Canada Border Services

The CBSA - Canada Border Services Agency has changed their process and are no longer using the Border Services Officer Test (BSOT). The new process and testing involves the Officer Trainee Entrance Test (OTEE). Other tests that will help you prepare for the cognitive and written skills assessment include the Written Communication Proficiency Test (WCPT), General Competency Test Level 1 & 2 (GCT 1 & 2) and Situational Judgment Test (SJT).

OTEE Test

The Officer Trainee Entrance Exam is an evaluation tool to assess your memory, reading and writing skills. For more information on these tests and to practice them, click the link below. The OTEE covers the following areas:
  1. Reasoning Skills
  2. Writing Skills
  3. Analytical Thinking
  4. Client Orientation

WCPT Test

The Written Communication Proficiency Test is an evaluation tool to assess your reading and writing skills. For more information on these tests and to practice them, click the link below. The WCPT covers the following areas:
  1. Grammar
  2. Punctuation
  3. Fill in the blank
  4. Ordering sentences
  5. Reading comprehension

GCT Test

The General Competency Test is an evaluation tool designed to assess your cognitive skills. We recommend you work through our practice exercises for both the GCT 1 & 2 for as much practice as possible. For more information on these tests and to practice them, click the link below. The GCT covers the following areas:
  1. Understanding Written Material
  2. Solving Numerical Problems
  3. Drawing Logical Conclusions

SJT Test

The Situational Judgment Test (SJT) built for Corrections and Emergency Services assesses judgment required for problem solving in Work-related situations. The SJT covers the following areas:
  1. Work Related Encounters
  2. Dealing with Teams
  3. Workplace Scenarios
